Thiru Pry School is a public primary school located in Marmanet Ward, Laikipia County in Kenya. It was established in 1978. The school is an integrated and mixed type of institution that has an enrollment of about 700 children between the ages of 6-15 years old.

As a rural primary school serving many pupils from a big community surrounding it, the schools facilities have been stretched beyond limit and it was in this spirit that this school qualified to be a beneficiary of the TFALLS FOUNDATION INC. to help improve its current condition.

NEEDS ASSESMENT:

TFALLS FOUNDATION INC. conducted a thorough needs assessment at Thiru Primary School and identified the following as the most urgent and critical issues that need to be addressed.

• Old and dilapidated classrooms that have not been repaired for many years.

• Congested classrooms thereby lack of conducive environment for students.

• Poor sanitation due to lack of proper bathrooms and no water for washing hands.

• Old and dilapidated administration block which was an eyesore and not conducive for learning.

• Most of the pupils come from very humble backgrounds and some parents cannot afford uniforms.

• The school also lacks source of clean and wholesome water for drinking and washing.

After the completion of the needs assessment analysis, TFALLS FOUNDATION INC. embarked on projects to help address some of the needs of the school. The projects were launched December 13, 2019.

The foundation has completed infrastructure overhaul and commissioned the facilities to the school for use. The following sub projects were undertaken in this school.

• Helped finish two classrooms that had been started a while ago. Two classrooms were furnished with new desks and chairs.

• Constructed a restroom block that contained washrooms for both boys and girls. The restroom was equipped with modern urinals, sinks, ceramic bowls, shower, tile floors and running water for use in the facilities.

• A new well was dug and equipped with a submersible pump for extraction of water for drinking and washing.

• Constructed an additional four new classrooms and also helped furnish them.

• Constructed a new administration block.

• Constructed and furnished two kindargarten classrooms.
